About SnapScreen

SnapScreen is the only screen saver available that displays digital pictures directly from your Kodak EasyShare software digital image collection.  This allows you to craft a personalized screensaver showing all of your favorite memories.  You can put the whole photo collection on your desk where you can see it every day and still save room for everything else.

Starting with version 1.4, Kodak EasyShare software is no longer required; SnapScreen can build its own internal picture catalog.

The SnapScreen screen saver can even be used in demo mode while you evaluate it. While in demo mode, each time the system wakes up from SnapScreen, purchase will be requested.

All you need to run SnapScreen is a PC running Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, or Windows XP with Kodak EasyShare software already installed.

If you wish to use SnapScreen with version 6 or greater of Kodak EasyShare software, you must use version 1.5 or greater of SnapScreen.  If you have version 5 or earlier of Kodak EasyShare software installed, you should use version 1.4 of SnapScreen.  You can get detailed instructions on how to find your EasyShare version here, or download the latest version from Kodak.

If you do not already have it, you can download SnapScreen at either of the following locations:

                              Get it from CNET Download.com!

You can now download SnapScreen 1.5 for use with Kodak EasyShare software version 6 or later from HERE.

  • The Configuration Dialog has been modified to accommodate the catalog selection.
  • Added two new transitions.  They are: Combo, and Gradual Scan.
  • Significant performance improvements with regards to the "Select by Album" option.
  • Minor bug fixes and improvements.

Changes from version 1.2:

  • Added the ability to select what images to display by album as well as those tagged as favorites.  The album selection may be combined with the selection of favorites for the greatest degree of flexibility.

Known Issues

  • Problems have been encountered on older NVIDIA RIVIA TNT and early GeForce  video cards.  If the screen if blank during the screen saver or if the pictures only stay visible for a brief time between long stretches of a blank screen you may need to upgrade your video card drivers from NVIDIA.  In some cases, the 3D Text screensaver included with Microsoft Windows will also only give a blank screen.
  • Certain corporate systems are configured to restrict the selection of screen savers.  Although this can be worked around via registry settings it is not recommended and probably against the policy of your employer.
  • You may be unable to purchase via then integrated purchase button from behind proxy servers.  In this case go to our web store via the Buy It Now button below. This will email you a serial number which can then be manually entered and validated in the settings dialog. Checking for updates from the settings dialog may also have issues from behind corporate proxy servers.
  • When upgrading versions, Kodak EasyShare may make a backup copy of their Catalog.  SnapScreen may sometimes find this backup copy instead of the real Catalog which means any changes you make using EasyShare will not show up in SnapScreen.  To correct this issue you must select the correct Catalog in the EasyShare Catalog section of the Configuration Dialog.  Please refer to the configuration instructions for more information.
